As the beta version of the PC version of Turbo Kid approached, it was crucial to start preparing for the porting to other platforms. Outerminds called upon Triple Boris due to their previous experience with porting games to Nintendo Switch.
Turbo Kid, inspired by the eponymous film, is a retro game developed for PC in 2D pixel art, aimed at a somewhat nostalgic audience of aficionados. The client wanted to expand its offer to make it accessible on as many platforms as possible, starting with Nintendo Switch; which requires specific optimization and adjustments before deployment to other platforms.
Goals: The main goal was to port Turbo Kid to Nintendo Switch, ensuring that the game was optimized for this console and met Nintendo's standards for certification.
Collaboration between Triple Boris and Outerminds: From the Alpha phase, Alpha phase, Triple Boris worked closely with Outerminds, carrying out a major update with a recent version of Unity. Together, the teams focused their efforts on development and multiple optimizations, leading to performance gains, thereby ensuring a smooth and high-quality transition for each platform.
The team includes a range of talents, such as our technical director who brings strategic expertise, as well as several experienced programmers.
The team improved memory consumption and reduced CPU usage. Adapting controls for the Switch and optimizing the use of hardware resources were crucial to meet Nintendo's specifications.
